Sludge Thunder is a New York State based artist who makes representational paintings using three ingredients in varying proportions: unrestrained glee, existential dread, and confusion. Sludge’s paintings are attempted reflections of the terror and absurdity of living in American society as we collectively face inevitable global climate collapse. Sludge cobbles together bizarre renderings in oil paint, assembling scenes from elements of everyday life, giddy self-presentations on social media, and images of disaster.

Sludge received a BFA from SUNY New Paltz in 2014.
